Saybrooke History and Overview

Built in the late 1980’s, Saybrooke is made up of 478 single-family homes divided into six “clusters;” homes in each cluster share similar design characteristics and were built by the same company. The operation of your homeowners association is governed by a board of volunteer directors. The five Board members are elected on a staggered basis by the community for a term of three (3) years. Elections are held at the annual homeowners meeting in November. The Board is responsible for overseeing the daily functions and financial responsibilities of the Association, and for maintaining members’ compliance with the established rules and guidelines. Please take the time to read through the Declarations and Bylaws you received during the home purchase process. Copies are available on the this website. There is a monthly Board meeting, held on the second Tuesday of each month, all homeowners are invited.

Home Owners Association & Website

The Association is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the common areas of the community, including the entrance and certain other amenities. Some of the services provided include the mowing and upkeep of the common grounds, community special events, paying contracted services and vendors, trash collection, and upkeep of amenity areas (pools, tennis courts, playground, sidewalks, gazebo, community fences, Saybrooke Green and much more).

Our association website (this website), www.saybrooke.com, is a repository of information regarding Saybrooke and the surrounding Gaithersburg area. Upcoming activities and events, announcements, a community calendar, Declarations and Bylaws, architectural review forms, and volunteer committee information can all be found there. New homeowners should sign up for an account in order to access documents, forms, and directory information.  Please take a few minutes to visit and familiarize yourself with this resource and to get to know your community. The website provides ready answers to most of the questions homeowners have.

Architectural Control

As a new homeowner, you may already have some ideas on how you’d like to improve your property. Each of us has our own vision of how our “castle” should look. The Architectural Committee helps neighbors understand how long-standing community rules help support and increase the value of all our properties by adhering to a common set of consensus “rules of the road.” Its function is to evaluate the plans for all exterior landscaping, repairs and remodeling (such as painting, decks, fences, trees and bushes, replacement roofs, etc.) to ensure compliance with all covenants, restrictions and guidelines. Modifications to the exterior of your home and property must be submitted to the Architectural Control Committee for approval before any work begins. If work is started without prior approval, the homeowner may be required to alter or remove the changes. Please reference this page for additional information.

Community Web Groups/ Social Media

Saybrooke residents maintain and operate private Facebook and NextDoor groups. While these pages are not officially connected to the HOA, they can be a useful source of information and interaction with neighbors.
